Developing writing tome of
deviant_mute.
Useful:
MOST IMPORTANT! Reading my output and returning with input. Crucifying me for typos, pointing out plot or character inconsistancies, acknowledging a lack or surplus of writing 'flow' - Does it need more of something? Does it need less of something? Example: Too much dialogue, not enough setting. Overcomplicated plot, not enough character development - All of these are extremely helpful constructive criticisms. Please don't just be a backseat tagalong. Tell me how this writing makes you feel! Do you relate to a character? Does the action make your heart swim and pulse race?
Fun:
I'm inviting those of you on my list who are also writers to reply writing a tangent using my characters or plot. [from any and all work, save the non-fictionn, obviously..] I think this would be endlessly entertaining; I'd love to see my characters/personalities through someone else's words/eyes. Example: You can begin writing where I left off in the post, or you can take the characters and setting and mash them about with your own concoctions. Please be sure yo specify, when replying, if your creativity can be used as inspiration for my own writing or if the particulars are offlimits; please be clear on this. I obtain inspiration and ideas from every god damned thing that happens to me, and other humans what with the peculiar ways they behave are a trove of ideas.
Every book/written piece has a soundtrack, usually implied through the writing. If you're 'feeling' a direction I'm going and want to suggest music or make a playlist for me to download and burn, do it! I'm in dire need of some new music and having something I've never heard before to listen to while writing is a most provoking experience. Random playlists of epic music in general are simply good fuel for the process. Hook a sistah up.
No:
What you read here is my personal development as a writer. Some of it may cause you to loathe that I ever attempted to write in the first place, and some of it may cause you to want more. I'm rusty. I stopped writing for years after some phenomenally imagination crushing circumstances later augmented by being thrust into the academic world staled my resolve to work on my projects. It's not a terribly great excuse, I know, but at the very least I'm getting back into the swing of things while I'm still young. I want to burn the desire to write into my core, I want the practice to become an unavoidable daily habit, and most of all I want to inspire in people the most terrifying and/or enlightening emotions that I possibly can. I'm extremely self-conscious about my writing - I'm not asking you to sugar coat, but please give me feedback in a way that will encourage me to write while addressing my obvious inadequacies.
Nothing I write leaves this journal.
All contents written by me, are copyright me. If you want to use an idea or something I've written somewhere, I'm flexible. Ask.
Lastly:
For the month of June I'm attempting a NaNoWriMo style writing month, and in accordance with the style and way of proceeding I'm not going to be showing much of anything that contributes to my wordcount. I'm going to aim to get out something, however small, at least once a week in addition to that to keep the creative juices flowing as much as possible. I will be posting my wordcount, my goal is 50,000 plus - this is an invitation to hassle me to write and berate me for not meeting my goals. ;)
And.
Thank you. I'm grateful to be at the mercy of your own mental muscles.
I love you.
